The Vicious Deep {Early Interview}

I want to give a warm, friendly welcome to Zoraida Cordova {The Vicious Deep} today and thank her for sharing an insight into the world of the unknown and for sharing this beautiful cover with us!

Age Group: Young Adult
Pages: 250
Format: Hardback

Vicious1

Set against the backdrop of a Coney Island summer comes The Vicious Deep, the story of sixteen year old Tristan Hart whose life is turned upside down when the mermaids make an unscheduled return to land in search of their new king.

When a sudden storm pulls Tristan from lifeguard duty into a deadly riptide, he discovers what he really is—a prince of the Sea Court. Turns out, his girlfriend hopping and talents as a swimmer aren’t caused by his teenage prime hormones after all.

In this modern Arthurian tale with a twist, when all a guy wants to do is get The Girl and enjoy the freak show that is a Coney Island summer, Tristan has to fight for his life, the lives of his friends, and his humanity, if he still wants it, as he’s caught in a race for a throne that is as ancient as the gods.

How would you describe The Vicious Deep?

The Vicious Deep is a classic adventure story with a twist. When a young reluctant hero (in my case, Tristan Hart) is chosen for this higher destiny, especially in modern times, there's a lot of potential for misfit fun. Then there's the eternal battle between good and evil, where the protagonist finds themselves wondering why they were chosen. Think Buffy and the darkness that surrounds her, but the reality ground by her human friends. Think of the retellings of King Arthur, a young boy who would change everything with the help of his knights and Merlin. Think of Luke, dear dear Luke who starts off as a whiny teen in a backwoods planet who becomes a jedi. There are a lot of familiar elements, but a lot of new shiny elements also.

I absolutely love Buffy and the retellings of King Author are good too. I think we see most of these familiar elements in many books today, but we never tire of the hero winning and the villain losing. I wonder how it would be if it was the other way around? Nobody would probably like it :] As girls we always crave a sexy, shining knight that always comes to our aid. I am excited to read this book and see the different elements and takes.

Which of your characters do you feel you relate to the most and why?

Layla Santos, Tristan's best friend. She sees things from a different perspective than Tristan does. She's loyal to her friends above all and is willing to go on whatever journey he's on.

She sounds cool and like a great character! I cannot wait to meet her :]

Were you a reader in your teen years and if so, who was your favorite author?

I'm only 24! HAH! When teen books really started becoming available, other than OTHERWORLD and ANIMORPHS, I was really into Amelia Atwater Rhodes. When I found she was only 13 and published by Random House, I was all, "I want to be her!" Her vampire and witch series really brought me to a new level of wanting to write.

LOL. I know what you mean. I will be 21 next month and I still consider myself a teen reader, but I am starting to see where I am switching between adult and teen. I think we stay young at heart and it is only the exterior that grows old. I LOVE Amelia!! I remember picking up one of her books in middle school, and thinking wow this book is a little creepy (so I didn’t read it once it got dark). Now looking back and having read all her books I cannot help but think, ‘What was it that creeped me out so much?’ I also cannot believe that she was only 13 when she wrote her first book – Pure genius in my book!

What one 2011 release are you most looking forward to reading this year?

DARKET STILL: Magic Most Foul by fellow Apocalypsie Leanna Renee Hieber

I am also looking forward to this book! I looks so good!!

Are you currently in the process of writing a sequel or newer book?

I'm working on book two. It's due very soon!

The scary process looks like this.

YAY!!

{TOUR} Happy Birthday to Me

Today I want to welcome Brian Rowe the author of the Happy Birthday series. He has conjured up this neat guest post of what a character in the series may tweet on a normal day in their life.

Before recently moving to Reno, Nevada, I spent eight years in Los Angeles, where I studied at Loyola Marymount University and worked in studio development, reality television, and feature film casting. My first love has always been writing fiction, and recently I decided to concentrate on writing books full time. My first book Slate, a women’s fiction novel, tells of a Hollywood casting director who uses her job to audition young men not for a movie, but for sexual gratification. My second book Happy Birthday to Me, a young adult novel, tells of a high school senior who starts aging a whole year of his life with each passing day. My third book Townhouse, a horror novel, tells of a young couple who start to suspect wrongdoing in their North Hollywood apartment complex.

I am currently outlining a sequel to Happy Birthday to Me, as well as a YA suspense novel that takes place in a Nevada ghost town.

If your characters (some or all, major or side) had Twitter accounts, what would their convos look like?

Cameron: woke up 62 today, having trouble peeing, back hurts, shoulder aches #Ihatebirthdays

Liesel: made it thru another day without using any #magic… congratulate me?

Wesley: counting the days til Carnage and We Need to Talk About Kevin. #FallMovieSeason is officially here!

Kimber: has anyone seen Sandra Bullock in The Proposal?Sooooo cuuuuuuute! I want her life. And I want Ryan Reynolds!!LOL http://d88dfasfdi

Mrs. Gordon: Consider this my first and last “tweet.” Twitter has ruined our nation’s stupid, snotty children. The world is coming to an end. Sincerely, Mrs. Gordon.

Coach Welch: BIG GAME ON FRIDAY NIGHT DON’T MISS OUT BUY YOUR TICKETS TODAY CHRS CHRS CHRS!!!

Hannah: I’m so happy to use this wonderful social marketing tool to advertise the following truth to you all #YouAreGonnaDie

Cam’s Dad: Come in for a free consultation Mondays and Fridays. Click on my website link here: http://www.renoplasticsurgery.com

Cam’s Mom: kissed my own son on the mouth the other day because I thought he was my husband #lifeisnotnormalatthemoment !!!

Seventeen-year-old Cameron Martin has a huge problem: he’s aging a whole year of his life with each passing day!

High school is hard enough; imagine rapidly aging from seventeen to seventy in a matter of weeks, with no logical explanation, and with prom, graduation, and the state championship basketball game all on the horizon. That’s what happens to Cameron, a popular pretty boy who’s never had to face a day looking anything but perfect.

All Cameron wants to do is go back to normal, but no one, not even the best doctors, can diagnose his condition. When he finds love with a mysterious young woman, however, he realizes his only hope for survival might be with the one person who started his condition in the first place…

Enjoy! Thanks Brian for these awesome tweets! So funny :]

Baby Magic {Review}

DSCN1475

Baby Magic was so wonderful to send me these two products in exchange for my honest opinion! The product on the left is their NEW Medicated Cream-to-Powder Patty Cake for diaper rash and you all know the product on the right, which is their lovely original Baby Magic body lotion.

I was so excited to see these two products! My first thoughts at seeing the patty cake was, ‘Oh cool, they made foundation for baby’s bum.’ From reading the directions on the back it said to take the powder applicators (included) and to powder baby’s bottom after changing their wet diapers. It helps to keep their bum protected from potential diaper rashes. I love the smell of the powder and the easy application of it. I also love the fact that you can find the applicators at your local grocery store for little than nothing. This is definitely one of those products that we can expect to see for awhile.

Medicated Patty Cake for diaper rash, a cream to powder formula, helps treat and prevent diaper rash, while giving your baby powder smooth skin and a fresh baby scent.

Active ingredient: Zinc Oxide 25.0%

The next product is the Baby Magic original body lotion. We all know that this product has been around for generations to come. I am a HUGE fan of baby lotion and I love to use it not only on babies, but on me and my little doggie {Skittles}

DSCN0261

I like to give her a bath and then lotion her down with baby lotion and she loves it! When I first opened the lotion I had to try it out myself. I love the smell of it on my hands :] How many of you love to smell little babies’ skin when you hold a newborn? I do. I love to smell them and how they smell like this lotion. This is definitely a product that will be around for all generations.

Conscious Box {Review}

Do you have more questions about Conscious Box? Check out our FAQ.

The little box comes with all these different samples of organic products, from candy to laundry detergent. My little box included all of these neat products.

DSCN1469

The product that I liked the most out of these samples. was indeed the lavender soap. The wrapper of the soap is degradable and once you plant it is grows wildflowers!!

5 fun ways that you can reuse your Conscious Box

1. Plant a flower in it and watch it grow through the box’s window.

2. Shred the boxes for a great base for creating compost.

3. Customize and upcycle! Use them as a canvas for pens, pencils, scissors, or any other art supplies. You can even draw and design the outside of the box to fit your own style!

4. Use the box’s window as a one-of-a-kind picture frame.

5. Fill it with tissues and pull them right out of the box’s window.

My most favorite of the 5 is #1. We had a garden last year and it would be fun to plant flowers this upcoming Spring!

These box subscriptions would be a great gift for those that have everything. This allows them to try a couple of products that they might not have a chance to otherwise.

WOW! Today has gone by super fast today. My great-grandpa is in the hospital today due to what the doctors said to be sepsis, which has to do with the blood. He is a fighter. He is in ICU and they had to put a tube up his nose. He told them that he was feeling better and was going to go home :] He is 87, and is still going strong, no way is he going to go down without a fight! I started the day out by clipping coupons from yesterday and then sorted them into their perspective folders. My plan was to sort through the individual folders in my coupon box and get the expired ones out and into a separate bag to send to the military families {they can use expired coupons up to 6 months after their expired dates}. I made it through one folder and then my mom called and she asked me if I was going to do coupons all day. I told her no, and then asked her what time it was. It was 2 PM. I was like all my goodness. So I finished what I was doing and did my household chores and then got started cleaning the bedroom. Here is how my bed looked before all the baby clothes were folded. All these clothes come from wonderful people that have passed them on to me :]

DSCN1472DSCN1473DSCN1474

Tonight for supper we had sausage, potato and broccoli skillet. It was good! After supper I finished putting up all the baby stuff and the room is back in order for Christmas!! Now I am gearing up to watch Cake Boss: The Next Great Baker, and to also post some reviews, and check out some awesome giveaways!

Hope your Monday is AWESOME!

Today I want to introduce you all to this lovely, one of a kind, boutique, Little Pea. Little Pea specializes in little girl tutus and tutu dresses.

Flower Girl Tutu Dress in Pink - Raspberry - 20% OFF with coupon Christmas2011

This little cutie above is wearing a dress like the one I received for the review. The only difference is that I received a smaller size so it can fit this little cutie below.

I am just waiting for her to get a bit older so that she can actually enjoy the beauty of the dress {pictures to come soon, promise!} The dress is soft and it doesn’t scratch the baby or make her itch or anything. It slides on smoothly and comes off smoothly. I also love the fact that it comes with a removable flower clip that you can use in their hair of as an accessory. The dresses are for any type of occasion. Halloween, every day dress up, tea parties, you name it. Cyndi is an amazing artist and she is also fun to work with.
