Interview: Levi Montgomery

Jillian has lost her mother, her home, her favorite aunt, and every friend she’s ever known. Now she’s found Royal. But is he the counter-weight that will help her regain her balance, or is he the anchor that will drag her under forever? Is he the most perfect man ever made, or is he a serial killer with a grudge?

Today I welcome Mr. Montgomery author of Jillian's Gold.

Tell us a little about yourself, the author behind the book.

I live in the far northwestern corner of Washington State with my wife of thirty years, waiting eagerly for the last two of our six children to move out. I've had sixty-six jobs, ranging from busboy to stoneware-smasher to industrial designer.

What is your book about?

Jillian's Gold is the story of a young woman who has lost her mother, her home, her favorite aunt, and every friend she's ever had, all in a few short weeks, and her struggle to regain her footing in a new town, surrounded by new people. There's one more problem: is Royal the most perfect boy ever made, or is he a serial killer with a grudge?

What inspired the book?

I can't really say what inspires most of my books. Actually, in this case, there's a specific book, by a well-known author, that inspired the central plot point of the novel, but it would be too much of a spoiler to say what it was, and it's not where "The Idea" came from, anyway.

What does your book mean to you?

What Jillian's Gold means to me, more than anything else, is that in the end, no matter who we have around us, no matter whose hand we hold, no matter whom we hug close to us, we must stand on our own or go under.
Random Questions, pick one or as many as you like and tell why.
Crayons or Color Pencils?

Colored pencils. Berol Prismacolors, to be precise. The finest colored pencils on Earth (that's a hold-over from my drafting and design career).

Anchovies or Pepperoni?

Both, of course! The perfect pizza: Anchovies, pepperoni, sausage, olives, mushrooms, & onions.
Pink or Blue?

Blue. Dark blue, actually.

Cherries or Blueberries?

Um, neither, if I get a say. *shudders violently*

Flip Flops or Sneakers?

Sneakers every time. Why in the world would you go around with things stuck between your toes? Ick. *shudders some more

Thank Levi for joining me here on my blog today. I look forward to reading Jillian's Gold!
