The Word Made Flesh: Literary Tattoos from Bookworms Worldwide is a guide to the emerging subculture of literary tattoos—a collection of more than 150 full-color photographs of human epidermis indelibly adorned with quotations and illustrations from Dickinson to Pynchon, from Shakespeare to Plath. With beloved lines of verse, literary portraits, and illustrations—and statements from the bearers on their tattoos' history and the personal significance of the chosen literary work—The Word Made Flesh is part collection of photographs and part literary anthology written on skin.
[I originally received this book to review, but instead I passed it along to Donna to read and review]

Donna's Thoughts:

I loved it! I just wish I would have known about it sooner so I could have put mine in there!!! I loved all the different tats and the great ideas. Some of them very original and then some are just what they are!. My faves were the most simple ones with just one word. I did love how one guy had a whole essay written on his back. That's dedication!!! I will definitely keep this one on my shelves forever!

Book Review: Crave

Title: Crave

Pub Date: Sept 21st 2010
Publisher: Simon & Schuster
Shay has had a rare blood disorder since she was born. In fact, her mother married one of Shay’s doctors, Martin, who left his world-renowned leukemia research to try and figure out exactly what the disorder is and how to cure it. When she turns seventeen, Martin begins to give her new blood transfusions that make her feel the strongest she has ever felt. But she also has odd visions where she sees through the eyes of a vampire. At first, she thinks she must be imagining the visions, but when she begins to see Martin’s office in them, she knows she has to check it out. That’s when she finds Gabriel, a sexy, teenaged vampire, imprisoned in Martin’s office. The connection she has built with Gabriel compels her to set him free. But when he kidnaps her in an attempt at revenge on Martin, their lives become deeply intertwined. She doesn’t know the half of it.

My Thoughts

This book starts with the story of Shay and her incurable disease. Later it turns into her and Gabriel's story and how they start on the run from everything. This book was by far the best book I have read this year. Shay's character learns waht it means to be a normal teenage for awhile until she gets week again. She has visions of a handsome guy while receiving her new transfusions. Little does she know that the guy of her dreams is being kept hostage by her, thought to be perfect, stepfather.

This story and the characters involved were amazing. I loved the way Gabriel and Shay went through all the different emotions before they finally gave into what they both wanted. The thing I liked least about this book was the end. The cliffhanger was so huge that I immediately tweeted Melinda Metz and Laura Burns to demand that there be a sequel, and guess what? There will be :] I will most definitely be reading the next in the series.

Has anyone else read this book? What was your thoughts?

Friday Blog Hops 11.4.10

Book Blogger Hop

"What are your feelings on losing followers? Have you ever stopped following a blog?"

I absolutely hate losing followers! I agree with Jen about everything she says. I feel the same about the people that comment and the GFC number are completely different things. As far as stopped following a blog - I am sad to say that I have. Most of the time I do it to the ones that are no longer updating.
